:: Thanks, Tom

Well, Lakeville living and homeownership is going well. After moving all our stuff via U-Haul and lots of muscle work between the brother-in-law and myself (and Mrs. Pierre at times) last Saturday, I immediately went flying for 4 days and Mrs. Pierre had to work as well. End result was that Thurs-Sat = lots of unpacking and work getting things settled at the new house.

Yesterday was yardwork day. Raking and mowing. Oh, and picking up about 10 lbs of dog sh!t. That's right, 10 POUNDS! I would guess I picked up around 30 separate droppings. I was going to post a picture of the resultant bag, but that would be just was too gross. Why would I have such an enormously gross task? Well, the previous owner had two large dogs. Evidently he didn't pick up their crap for the few weeks or so prior to closing. Nor did he bother to mow or rake a little. Nice.

But that's not all - this guy (Tom) was a S-L-O-B. Today was engulfed in getting the kitchen cleaned up and set up. First off, Tom evidently decided that the contact paper and cabinet cleanliness put in by the homebuilders 15 years ago was good enough for him. Too bad it is not good enough for me, as the day was filled with scraping, washing, and re-arranging.

Tom's slobbiness doesn't end at the kitchen. Here is a short list of items that were extremely unclean or unkempt:

- gas fireplace: louvres, screen , glass - yucko! Couldn't even see into the fireplace from the soot buildup on the glass
- closets: all of them dusty and crumby
- several lights out throughout house
- shower heads were so old and clogged up with deposits that we had to replace both
- Water softener brine tank had no salt in it
- bathrooms all icky and gross - leftover soap containers and all
- broiler pan/tray in stove is so baked/burned on with crap that the oven smokes every time we turn it on - pan and tray are uncleanable, and we will need to replace them
- my sisters-in-law helped us clean up; one of them found a nice surprise in the master bedroom closet, which can only be summarized in one word: Astroglide. (Arrrrgghhhh!)
