:: Midsummer Update

Well, what can I say...still slacking on the ol' blog. I can say that the distractions of Facebook have taken up a nice prem-o share of my time on the interweb these days. And, it is highly likely that you are reading this post via the FlogBlog app in FB right now. Good job!

Summer is flying by...but I still am not flying much at all. The current project I am involved with at ALPA continues to drag on, prolonging my time away from the flight line. This is good and bad. Mainly good. But only logging around 100 hours in 7 months is sad. I am holding a "phantom" award of CRJ-900 CA in MSP. So, once we are done with the big project, or whenever we all think it is feasible, I will be bidding adieu to the Saab.

July has been a busy month, and we had three big "losses" occur: First, at the beginning of the month, my beloved 1997 Ford Explorer XLT lost its tranny. At $2500 to fix it right, we couldn't justify the cost, and donated it to charity. We parted ways after 10 years of ownership, and 180000 miles of fun. Second, in the July 10th storms we lost our largest Mountain Ash tree from the front yard. It was about 50 feet tall, and had been here since '93.

She split right down to the base of the trunk. I don't have a current picture of what it looks like now, mainly because it is too depressing to me to go out and take one. We have been the talk of the neighborhood ever since, I feel. Whenever someone loses a tree on a corner that everyone looks at subconsciously as they drive past, the absence is that much more prevalent. Finally, our water heater is leaking. Replacement is imminent. Bad things come in 3's, they say, so let's hope that's all!

On a celebratory note, Evelyn will be a big sister come February! We are very excited and are praying every day that the new baby continues to grow healthy (and that Sarah's health and pregnancy remains positive as well)! Speaking of Evie, she continues to get bigger and faster and smarter by the minute. I swear when I got home today from work she looked older (I was only gone 8 hours). She is crawling all over at light speed, and can pull herself up to standing while holding on to something. Her balance is improving quickly, and we wonder if she will walk soon. Still no teeth though! Here is my favorite photo of us from this summer so far:

C'mon Daddy...please give me a potato chip?!?!
